The Consumer Unit, or Fuse Box, is the control centre for all of the electricity within your home. This essential piece of kit houses the protective devices which help guard against electric shock, burns and fire, in the event of an electrical fault.

As standards of safety have improved over time, so have the protective devices that are available in the market. Many home owners are worried about the state of their current Consumer Unit, which may have been in place for a very long time. As an example, many homes still have the old style Fuse Box with individual rewirable fuses.
